Rise in safe havens for Taliban in Pakistan: Holbrooke

WASHINGTON: U.S. special envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke has said that the number of safe havens is on the rise in Pakistan. He said this during a meeting held here to review U.S. policy for Pakistan and Afghanistan and was attended by General David Petraeus and other officials. Holbrooke said success in Afghanistan is not possible only through use of military means. He said extremists responsible for 9/11, Mumbai attacks and occupation in Swat stem from same roots.
